For the driven who want to flow.
Congratulations on how far you have come.
You have moved against the gravity of mediocrity. You have let go of many things to be able to ascend - relationships, roles, rewards that encouraged you to stop growing. You have blazed your own path through trials and ‘failures’, attended the conferences, absorbed the books and podcasts, meditated - all to program productive thought patterns. The mental side of you is truly amazing - your brain knows what to do.
To the next level
you need to partner with your body. You hear the call of the wild, wordless, wisdom of the body. To realize the potential you feel inside, you know breakthroughs below the neck are are necessary. Our physical self wants to guide us into the highest potential of our experience.
This is more than fitness,
it is time to take extraordinary care of your physical self all day long. To you, health is more than just not being sick. Now, your body will be defined by more than something not in pain. Life to you is much richer than that. You have tasted peak experiences and know a visceral sensation of aliveness in the body is linked. If you are like me then you are willing to do anything to remain there more and more often.
To realize the vision you have
for your world you must upgrade the outdated nervous system. But you chose this path because it would require you to face your fears and grow. Because you are not running from anything, but running toward something, and that is the strength you will need to bring your vision into the world. So get ready to meet your higher self, your body will make the introduction..
Interestingly, how you treat your own body
is the same way you treat everything…in other words, what is not working with your body shows us what is not working everywhere else - personal relationships, work, love-life. You may be able to outwit the Devil, but when it comes to the body, mental insight alone sometimes is not enough. You may rationally understand the need to stay calm and collected, but you sense some misalignment. Inside you are not feeling what you are attempting to portray outwardly.
Despite everything you still feel tense.
Unease drains your energy - anxiety robs your sleep - shallow breathing narrows your mental bandwidth - insensitivity makes you…well, insensitive - anxiety makes you rush progress - numbness relates to your depth of life - your shallow voice reveals to people the emptiness of your words - pain that you do not remove causes you to lash out - your slouching exhausts people around you. It is no one’s fault - Western culture tends to treat the body as something to be corrected and overcame with force/effort. You made your body subordinate to your mind. You think the only useful intelligence is your brain as while your body gets no voice and is merely something to be pushed, pulled and molded to your liking. As we have come to learn, the body does not respond well to this. So the flesh gets labeled an obstacle or a hinderance, and that is the issue.
You and I are not shy to exit our comfort zones,
but anxiety and stress hormones are not sustainable fuel. It is time to go from coal to solar. You have seen that quick fixes do not work, because the body wants a continuous relationship with you, not a set-it-and-forget-it solution. A team of health professionals are not working because you cannot outsource a relationship; you cannot delegate self-care. More discipline is not working because the mind’s agenda can be limiting to the bigger picture the body is nudging us toward.
Your ideal self uses their body very differently than you.
So it is time to approach self-care on a completely new level…a collaboration with your body. This means trusting the body’s pace, cycles, and the sense that higher productivity comes from calmness and ease. Without stress you also will find habitual choices easier make related to eating and coping substance.
You will see your mission more clearly too.
It becomes mandatory to feel good so you can do more good in your calling in life. When tension is gone you can be more present with people you care about. People will say, “What is going on with you? You are different—you have some sort of glow. I feel better around you.”
